What is the difference between the HealthMate and HealthMate Plus? Both the Austin Air HealthMate and HealthMate Plus use a combination of activated carbon, zeolite, and medical grade HEPA in their filters. However, the HealthMate Plus uses an activated carbon that is impregnated with potassium iodide, which is designed for better adsorption of specific chemicals such as formaldehyde. Therefore, the HealthMate Plus may be a better option for those exposed to wildfire smoke or chemical disasters.
